Our four hour drive to the capital of New Zealand, Wellington, took us through more lovely scenery.  It was cloudy once we left Hawke’s Bay, but the rain held off, thankfully.  On arrival in Wellington we decided to explore the city in the strong winds and occasional showers.  First up was a ride on the Wellington Cable car, which I was expecting to be a suspended cable car, but which was, in fact, a funicular railway to the higher suburbs of the city.

The views from the Botanical gardens over the city were spectactular, but because of the cloud and rain, the photos don’t do it justice.

We toured the Cable Car Museum before heading back down the hill  to the harbourside and into the city to grab a bite to eat before heading back to the Holiday Inn where we are staying.
Later in the evening we enjoyed the superb swimming pool, sauna and spa to chill out after our long drive.
