Just 90 minutes from Melbourne, Daylesford and the nearby Hepburn Springs, boast the highest concentration of mineral springs in the country and reflect the character of their earliest heritage when Swiss-Italian miners and other immigrants settled here and people travelled from afar to “take the waters”.

Just ten minutes north of the town, we discovered the delights of Lavandula , a Swiss Italian farm with fields of lavender, olives and grapes.  We spent a very pleasant couple of hours wandering around the grounds and enjoying the peace and tranquility.  Of course, after Michael’s recent success with bowling in Echuca earlier in the week, he was keen to hone his skills at pétanque as well!  Hmmmm not QUITE as good this time!

We enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch overlooking Lake Daylesford, after which we took a gentle stroll around the lake and nearby parklands.
